Liferea is a feed reader/news aggregator that brings together all of the content from your favorite subscriptions into a simple interface that makes it easy to organize and browse feeds. Its GUI is similar to a desktop mail/news client, with an embedded web browser.
Distinguishing features:
This is a new stable Liferea 1.16 release with performance improvements, new customization capabilities, and several bugfixes. Feed updating has been adjusted to avoid unintended GUI blocking that previously caused UI freezes during initial updates.
Rendering can now be customized via JavaScript hooks, allowing modification of data before rendering and DOM manipulation after rendering. Contrast in both light and dark themes has also been refined for better readability. Additionally, Liferea now supports blogroll discovery via the source namespace and HTML link tags, automatically fetching and displaying OPML blogrolls for feeds.
