EngPlayer 0.1.8 brings a Windows version, multiple EPG sources, backup streams, full backup and restore, Dolby Digital output and many improvements. EngPlayer is now free software under the GNU GPL v3 or later.
- New: Windows version (Beta) — EngPlayer now runs on Windows from the same code base as Linux.
- New: Multiple EPG sources — add up to 3 extra EPG sources per profile. The provider's EPG stays first, extra sources fill in missing channels. EPG data is now stored per profile.
- New: Provider Test — check server response time, account status and expiry date, connection limit and channel/movie/series counts with one click (Xtream and M3U).
- New: Backup stream (failover) per channel — add a backup stream from another profile. EngPlayer switches automatically when the main stream fails, or manually with the player button.
- New: Full backup and restore — save all profiles, settings and EPG data to one file and restore them later, even from the profile screen with no profiles.
- New: Picture-in-Picture with the P key — moves the current stream to a small always-on-top window without opening a second provider connection.
- New: Continue Watching — unfinished movies and series are listed in the VOD and Series menus (up to 30 items, per profile, included in full backup).
- New: Downloaded content is marked, and you are asked before downloading the same item again.
- New: Downloads reconnect automatically after a network or provider error (after 5, 10 and 20 seconds) and continue where they stopped.
- New: Dolby Digital (AC-3) output — sends up to 5.1 sound to an AV receiver over HDMI or S/PDIF. Falls back to normal sound if the audio device does not support it.
- New: Built-in DVB and Teletext subtitle support — subtitles are now shown directly in EngPlayer, no external player needed.
- New: Genre filter — movie and series lists show genre buttons under the search bar when the provider sends genre information. Lists without genre data hide them automatically.
- New: All Movies and All Series — browse and search the whole catalog in one list. Hidden, locked and adult categories are left out.
- Improvement: EPG downloads are more reliable on slow or busy providers.
- Improvement: Live channels that take a while to start at the provider now open automatically.
- Improvement: User interface updates and minor bug fixes.
- Fix: Scrolling the Settings menu no longer changes the Audio Visualizer, Theme and Stream Buffer values.
