Fixes to scanning, OCR on Windows, selecting and moving pages, text formatting, saved signatures, and form fields â plus choosing where added pages go:
- Scanning works on devices with no choice of source. A scanner with a glass bed and no document feeder has nothing to choose between, but indiPDF asked for the flatbed anyway and the scanner software refused the whole scan. indiPDF now asks the scanner what it supports before telling it anything, and offers only the sources it really has.
- OCR finds Tesseract where Windows puts it. The official installer puts Tesseract under Program Files and leaves the "add to PATH" box unticked, so an ordinary installation was invisible to indiPDF and OCR never worked. The usual install locations are now searched, and the language files are taken from wherever Tesseract was found.
- Choose where added pages go. Pages brought in from another PDF always went on the end; the Add Pages dialog now offers at the end, before page N or after page N, with the page number following whichever page you were looking at.
- Changing a text box's colour, font or size from its context menu works. Typing into a text box records the colour, size and typeface with the text itself, and those were taking precedence over the change â so the setting was applied and nothing you could see altered.
- Move a selection of pages, not just the one you dragged. Selecting several thumbnails and dragging them moved only the page under the cursor. The whole selection now goes where the dragged page lands, gathering into a block, and it takes one press of Undo to put them all back.
- Shift-click selects a range of pages. Clicking one thumbnail and Shift-clicking another did nothing, because a plain click cleared the selection and Shift-click had nothing to reach from.
- Selected pages are no longer outlined in red â the colour of the delete button beside them. They use the accent colour now, the page being viewed is told apart by its ring, and the sidebar says how many pages are selected.
- "Edit existing form fields" no longer says a document has none while one is on the page. A field you have just added becomes one of the document's own fields when you save; the command only looked at fields already saved, so straight after adding one it reported that the document had no form fields at all.
- Adding a signature from Manage Signatures no longer skips the choice. With two or more signatures saved, picking up the signature tool asks which one to use â but immediately after adding one from Manage Signatures it stamped the newly added signature instead, and only offered the choice again after you had done something else.
- Dragging a page thumbnail up by more than one place now moves it. Dragging a page down the list worked, and dragging one up by a single place worked, but moving a page from position 5 to position 3 left the document unchanged. Where the new order cannot be explained by a single page moving, the thumbnails now go back to matching the document rather than showing an arrangement that was never applied.
