A free, open source, and cross-platform media player

Mpv is a movie player based on MPlayer and mplayer2. It supports a wide variety of video file formats, audio and video codecs, and subtitle types. Special input URL types are available to read input from a variety of sources other than disk files. Depending on platform, a variety of different video and audio output methods are supported.

  • Flatpak: mpv.conf: Screenshots (shortcut key 's') are saved in ~/Pictures/mpv directory
  • Flatpak: mpv config directory is ~/.var/app/io.mpv.Mpv/config/mpv
  • Flatpak: mpv scripts directory is ~/.var/app/io.mpv.Mpv/config/mpv/scripts
  • Flatpak: subliminal is added for autosub.lua like scripts
  • Flatpak: mpv scripts needs write access. Use flatseal app to set home or host write permission
