Personal library of scientific PDFs

Alexandria is a application for managing a local store of scientific papers. Typically starting with a directory of PDFs, it extracts metadata (title, authors, year, DOI, journal) from the text of the PDF, consults CrossRef and OpenAlex, then presents a searchable, filterable card browser. Alexandria tries to make it easy to find and add related papers.

Live BibTeX: point Preferences at the .bib your LaTeX document cites and Alexandria rewrites it whenever the library changes, so citing needs no export first
Follow arXiv categories, all 155 of them grouped by archive, beside the bioRxiv subject collections
Clicking an author could fail to open the window, when an optional cache write part way through building the page raised and took the rest of the page with it
A long title broken inside a word gained a hyphen it never had, and a paper with no authors offered a menu that opened an empty list
A PDF asserting a typesetter's filename as its title no longer shows that on the card
