For offices coming from Lotus Approach:
- A form can be made wider or narrower in the form designer. Drag the right edge of the
sheet, use the arrow keys on it, or type the width in the box beside the form's name. A form
is 24 to 400 grid squares wide, and a square is about 2 mm on paper. It can never be narrower
than the item that reaches furthest to the right
- A form wider than the space inside the paper's margins prints just small enough to fit,
and Preview says so. A wide form prints on paper turned on its side, and new certificate
reports start on it
- A crosstab can have up to four fields down the side and four across the top, such as
Region, then Salesperson, down the side, and Year, then Quarter, across. Each outer group
has its own subtotal, such as "Total for North" or "Total for Quarter 1", and one tick turns
the subtotals off. The headings repeat on every printed page, and each page is numbered.
Saved as a web page, each heading spans its group
- Importing into an existing table can update the records that match the file, or update
them and add the rest. Match on up to four fields, such as a customer number. Before anything
is written, the wizard counts the records it will change, the ones already the same, the
rows it will add and the rows it will leave out. It names any row that matches more than
one record, and any two rows that match the same record
- In an update, an empty cell leaves the field as it is, unless you untick that, and a
value that cannot be read never empties a field. The whole import arrives at once or not
at all. A record someone is editing, or one changed since the preview, stops it, with the
record and the person named
- In a folder import, every file can be reviewed, so next month's folder can update the
tables that this month's folder made
Also in this release:
- In the form designer, a clicked item takes the keyboard, so the arrow keys move it and
Esc and Delete work. Close asks before it throws away unsaved changes
- Years and other whole numbers in report headings are shown without a thousands separator,
so 2023 is no longer 2,023
- Printed reports no longer carry the window's grey background
- An import too big to send in one go to the computer that holds the database is refused
before anything is sent, with how many rows to put in each file. Large imports through sharing
use much less memory
- A computer on 1.5.0 or earlier shows a crosstab with more than one field on a side as
a flat table whose totals still add up. Through sharing, it keeps the levels when it saves
the crosstab. A crosstab with levels can be made only when the computer that holds the database
runs 1.6.0 or later, and an app template that holds one needs 1.6.0 or later too
